🔮 Symbolic Approach
The cave is the womb of the world: Lascaux, Eleusis, Plato's cave, hermits. You enter to see differently, not to camp out. A dry cave protects. A cave that closes in is an initiation or a tomb. The treasure at the bottom is a truth not yet illuminated by the electricity of the self.
🛋️ Psychoanalysis (Freud & Jung)
Uterine return, secret, depression (where you hide). Exploring is analysis. Fear of the bottom is the memory of confinement. Emerging dazzled: too much reality after too much shadow.
🧠 Neuroscience
Claustrophobia, ears, echo, dark room. The vestibular system likes irregular volumes. A real cellar, a tunnel, a medical scan (tube) get recycled.
💡 Practical Advice
Grant yourself a real short retreat, then return with one thing (a word, a decision). Do not settle in the cave: initiation has an exit. If the confinement sticks to a depression, seek human light, not just symbolic.
