🔮 Symbolic Approach
Taoists would say you are fighting the Dao. Heraclitus noted you can't step in the same river twice, but you want to swim upstream. Sometimes it's heroic (refusing injustice). Often it's pride: the river is right about the tempo.
🛋️ Psychoanalysis (Freud & Jung)
Opposition, burnout, a family whose path you contest. You define yourself in opposition. Exhaustion is your Superego swimming for two. Stopping the fight isn't submitting; it's choosing another shore.
🧠 Neuroscience
Oneiric muscular effort, sleep debt, deadlines. The brain encodes a "high energy cost." Heavy legs in bed translate to the current.
💡 Practical Advice
Where are you spending ten units of energy to move forward by one? Change your angle, not just your intensity. A break isn't a betrayal. If the fight is just, find an ally—swimming against the current alone wears you out.
