House = self. Haunting = memories that have no bedroom. Childhood, violence, grief. Freud: the return of the repressed in architecture. Visiting without being able to leave: you're replaying a family system.

Real noises (pipes, neighbors), horror movies, an old house. The spatial hippocampus reconstructs a known layout and lodges the alarm there. Very common during periods of inner relocation.
