🔮 Symbolic Approach
In myths, the killer is rarely abstract "evil": it is Kali, Seth, the psychopomp cutting away what rots. A masked assassin is a force of destiny you don't want to face. If they target you, a part of you must die (role, lie, alliance). If they kill someone else, you delegate the cut to a cold figure.
🛋️ Psychoanalysis (Freud & Jung)
The killer is often your aggressive shadow — the anger you don't dare show. Freud would see a directed death drive; Jung, an archetype of the inner predator. Being chased by an assassin means running from a truth. Being the assassin means over-identifying with rage. It is almost never a real desire to kill.
🧠 Neuroscience
Chase + weapon = amygdala in full gear. Horror movies, crime news, work conflict: the brain mixes them up. A blocked breath or a room that's too dark is enough to manufacture the mask. This is not a diagnosis of dangerousness.
💡 Practical Advice
Upon waking, name the target: what habit, what relationship, what fear "should die" without violence? Set a clear boundary today. If the killer returns and you experience a real threat, step out of the symbol: talk to someone you trust, not just the oracle.
