🔮 Symbolic Approach
The Styx, the Ganges, the Jordan, the Nile: we cross to change state. A clear river guides. A river of blood or mud says time (family history) is heavy. Swimming upstream is refusing destiny; following it too much is abdicating.
🛋️ Psychoanalysis (Freud & Jung)
The course of your life. Banks = limits. Bridge = relationship. Drowning an object in the river is a mourning ritual. Freud would see the flow of desire; keep it concrete: where is it stagnating, where is it overflowing?
🧠 Neuroscience
Memory of walks, sound of water, need for narrative continuity. The brain loves lines (road, river) to tie together the day's memories.
💡 Practical Advice
One bank at a time. If you have to cross, look for the real bridge (conversation, meeting). Don't throw yourself in the water just to prove you're alive.
