🔮 Symbolic Approach
The fall symbolizes a loss of control or a descent into the depths of the soul. In Chinese traditions, falling sometimes foretells a social fall or a warning: ground yourself before making an important decision.
🛋️ Psychoanalysis (Freud & Jung)
Freud saw it as an expression of repressed sexual drives or abandonment. Jung associates the fall with the loss of the ideal self or a call to descend into the shadow to integrate rejected parts of oneself.
🧠 Neuroscience
At the moment of falling asleep, the body may experience a sudden muscle relaxation (hypnic jerk). The brain interprets this signal as a fall and generates a dream image to explain it.
💡 Practical Advice
Identify a situation where you feel you are losing your footing (work, relationship, project). The fall invites you to let go of illusory control and recenter on what is stable within you.
