The Revelation of John talks of crowds and plagues; Hollywood added the marching. Your horde is often the emptied-out collective—work, scrolling, family on autopilot. It is not an omen of the end of the world.

The zombie is the depressed, addicted, overly obedient other (or you). Romero saw it coming: neighbours eating neighbours. Fleeing the horde means refusing the contagion of cynicism. Becoming one is the fear that you've already tipped over.

Slow walk + threat + crowd: a cocktail of disgust (insula) and pursuit. Movies, games, health news all get recycled. Real exhaustion tells itself as a "body moving forward without you."
💡 Practical Advice
Cut off a source of mental contagion today: your news feed, a draining conversation, a zombie task. Do something clearly alive (cook, walk, call someone). If end-of-the-world anxiety overwhelms you during the day, talk to someone—that is no longer just indoor cinema.
