🔮 Symbolic Approach
From Japanese tea to ancient sacrifice, ritual is folded time: we repeat so the world holds together. A true ritual needs a framework. An empty or cruel ritual has form eating substance. Being the priest means vocation or control. Forgetting the gestures means a myth unraveling—sometimes for the best.
🛋️ Psychoanalysis (Freud & Jung)
OCD, grief, family, religion. Repeating to bind anxiety. A ritual of humiliation: trauma. Inventing a rite: psychic health. Freud would see compulsion; Jung, the need for soul.
🧠 Neuroscience
Habits, motor gestures, liturgy, series. Procedural loops love replaying at night. A real evening ritual (cream, prayer, scrolling) is enough.
💡 Practical Advice
Keep a short gesture that makes sense, toss out the anxious choreography. If the rite hurts you (cult, shame), get out and talk to a human. The sacred doesn't require you to bleed.
