Pan

Pan, deity of Greek mythology — AmStramGram

Pan is wildness incarnate — half-man, half-goat, lord of forests, flocks, and the panic that sends travelers running. Master of the syrinx, he lurks in lonely places and teaches mortals what it means to be truly afraid. We still use his name for it.
